Bound by Sangorski and Sutcliffe in original three-quarter crushed terra cotta morocco over yellowish-tan cloth. Lacking the laid in pocket and two folding maps it houses. Near Fine with light soiling and toning to cloth, spines faded and lightly worn, contents faintly foxed. Volume I with stain to spine; Volume II with area of front paste down lifted from board. Volume I reproduces Lawrence's undergraduate thesis, written at Oxford University in 1910 with material mostly gathered on a solitary trek on foot in the Near East in the summer of 1909. Volume II contains his letters on military architecture, accompanied by his drawings and photographs, written to his mother during his travels and research in England, Wales, France, Syria, and Palestine.
