Buffalo, Cleveland, and New York: The Matthews-Northrup Works for Southern Pacific Railroad, 1910. Highly detailed climate map of the Golden State, indicating average temperature zones in six different colors. Includes an extensive index and two inset maps, one dedicated to the microclimates of the Bay Area and the other a comparative area map that fits nine other states within the boundaries of California. The verso of the map describes the opportunities available to the settler, including agricultural conditions, horticulture, live stock, irrigation, forests and lumber, mining, and “two great universities” (University of California and Stanford).
Printed on both side of a 21 3/4” x 27” sheet which folds to 3 3/4” x 9” (36 panels). Light soiling to the rear panel, with a bit of minor edgewear along the fore-edge of the front panel; otherwise very good. Scarce, OCLC locates only two holdings, at The Huntington Library and Yale.
