Black and white etching depicting a woman, nude, with her gaze toward the sky. Her arms rest upon the branches of a tree, and tall grasses and leaves fill the background. The dark, bold lines in this print exemplify the engraver's skill and attention to detail. Numbered 73/200 in pencil and signed in the plate.

Albert Decaris (1901-1988) was a precocious French engraver and artist known for engraving many religious figures and scenes, and designing and engraving over 600 stamps for the France and the Francophone world. His engravings appear in many editions of classical literary (truncated) works, and he grew to such acclaim he was elected president of the Academie des Beaux-Arts. Decaris was considered the Master Engraver of 20th century France. (Inventory #: 325578)
