A catalog listing hundreds of theatrical costume wigs from Georg Anton's wig company. Oblong octavo (9 x 6 inches; 226 x 154 mm). 64 pp. Text is in German, English and French. Laid in is an order form from the Dutch wig factory Bemo Haarhuis. We could find no copies at auction and WorldCat only lists two copies: one at the Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles and another at the Staatliche Museen in Berlin.
This catalog includes hundreds of examples of available wigs for order, including men and woman's styles, beards and famous characters including Titus, Tolstoy and Beethoven. There is also a sizeing guide and blank pages for notes, as well as a comprehensive table of contents.
Original drab green, staple-bound printed wrappers. Front wrapper with some creasing and sunning. A small chip from the top outer corner. A purple ink stamp to the front wrapper and the title-page. Some smudging to title-page. Previous owner's notes in pencil and colored pencil on the "Notes"page as well as red ink price markings alongside many of the wig examples.
Georg Anton's factory, established in 1876, was Europe's premier manufacturer of theatre wigs.
