The rare invitation to Picasso’s 1935 show in Paris at the Galerie Pierre; WorldCat records only two libraries holding this piece of exhibition ephemerum (as of December 2024). Pierre Loeb (1897-1964) opened Galerie Pierre in 1924 to promote Surrealist and Cubist art. The gallerist cultivated a close relationship with Picasso, even buying works directly from him, and staged four solo presentations of the artist’s work in December 1927, the present exhibition, April 1937, and January 1939. The invitation has a lengthy text by Tristan Tzara (1896-1963) about the works on display.
