The Prerogative of Parliaments in England: Proved in a Dialogue (pro & contra) betweene a Councellour of State and a Justice of Peace

Midelburge, given on title page, but actually London: T. Cotes (No publisher name given in book), 1628. First Edition. Full Calf. Very Good. Very small 4to.18.5 by 14 cm. [8], 65, [1] pp. (Three blank leaves in front, and two, in back, including the free endpapers here.) Final unpaginated page with Raleigh's epitaph, written by himself, in eight lines of verse. Contemporary calf rebacked, rebacking also appearing ancient. Minor wormholing affecting front endpapers and prelim blanks. Calf rubbed, scratched, slightly warped, but even with reback, still appealing and overall well-preserved. Title with darkening from film of soiling, after which the leaves are of course age toned, with light soil here and there, but at level consistent with age and light use. Leaves trimmed slightly, with horizontal margins on top and/or bottom sometimes rather thin. A tiny edge chip on one leaf, and some leaves with flattened creases. Two old ownership inscriptions, one on FEP, other on title. Easily a Very Good copy. (Inventory #: 20081)
