Collated complete (no missing pages, maps, portraits) despite the odd pagination. Edge wear and tear to the cloth spines and corners. Cloth covers with gilt are faded and worn. Staining (truncated) to the front cover volume 2. Toning to the illustrated portraits. Occasional light foxing, toning, or light damp stains to the text. Hinges are in good condition and text blocks are uniform and sturdy. Interior contents mostly clean. Faint inscriptions from the previous owner on the front end sheets. A scarce set published during the War. Fair to good condition.
