Alabaster statue of the young Mozart. Signed "Perigot." Germany or Austria, ca. 1900-10

The composer is depicted as a boy of about 12 years of age, standing pensively reading a book. He is dressed in contemporary fashion including a ruffled shirt, cravat, britches, buckled shoes, three-quarter length coat, and wig, and holds a violin under his left arm. A pile of books are at his feet at the rear.

With the artist's name "Perigit" and the number "4610 K 534" etched into the rear side of the base. Height: 11.25" (285 mm, height with base: 11.75" (305 mm).

Minor soiling; head and lower right corner of violin lacking. (Inventory #: 40230)
