Wraps (Midweight card stock). Staples
Holyoke, Massachusetts
Holyoke, Massachusetts: American Writing Paper Company Inc. Wraps (Midweight card stock). Staples. Very Good. N.d., circa 1930. Folio, 30.5 by 23.5 cm. Unpaginated, 10 leaves, with printing on one side only of each. Five plates, two of which are full color, one, partial color, meant to show varying numbers of printings to achieve the level of color richness -- six printings, four printings, and two printings. In front are five sheets, all but the innermost entirely blank except for a crisp caption on the side, serving as samples of paper thickness and weight, with the weight increasing as one proceeds to the front. The front wrap is the sixth such specimen, and it also has a similar caption in the inside corner. The top sheet of this progression is the sheet in the center, facing the first color plate, and this is the one page of the succession with a substantial amount of textual content, explaining what offset printing is and its virtues Above its explanation is the title of the brochure flanked by two decorative illustrations of seraphs, both rendered in color. Scarce -- no copies located on OCLC First Search. The wraps have light soiling, some of what remains removable by eraser. There is also a small corner chip and other edge wear. The leaves within are clean overall. In the front and back, between the wraps and facing blank pages, there is a band of white tape which surely was added as a repair to re-attach or reinforce the binding of the wraps to the rest of the brochure.
