Aaron Johnson (1806-1877) was an early Mormon convert and served in a variety of callings during his life, including the Nauvoo Stake High Council and the bishop in Garden Grove, Iowa. He was captain of a large company of Saints who left Council Bluffs, Iowa in June of 1850 to settle in the west. After arriving in the Salt Lake Valley in 1850 he was asked by President Brigham Young to lead a group of settlers to a selected site south in Utah Valley. It became known as Hobble Creek and was later named Springville, Utah. He was the first bishop of the Springville Ward and an important community leader.
