Paris: Editions de la Revue Verve, 1945. Boards. Near Fine/Fine. The November 1945 1st edition of the first issue of Verve published after the war. The famous issue is devoted to Matisse and features 2 of his sumptuous original lithographs ("De La Couleur" and the first iteration of his iconic "La Chute D'Icare"). Both original lithographs --serving as the frontispieces-- are in lovely, all-but-pristine codition. In fact, this folio has held up very nicely: Tight and Near Fine in a bright, Near Fine example of the Matisse-designed dustjacket, with several spots of very faint shadowing at the panels. Essay at the rear by Adrienne Monnier, the one-time partner of Sylvia Beach and equally influential Parisian bookseller. (Inventory #: 23915)
