Merrill's vignette of the March sisters dressing a bridal Meg bordered in a blooming rose trellis stamped in black, white, red, green, and brown to upper board, with rose bouquet to spine, lettered in dark green to both. Moderate wear to binding, with rubbing and sunning to faded spine, hard bumping to split corners, scattered rubbing, and light marks or soiling to cloth. Both inner hinges show signs of cracking and repair with archival adhesive. Binding remains sound. Gift inscription dated Xmas 1908 to front free endpaper, with faded numerical stamp to top corner. Pages are gently age-toned, with occasional spot of toning or foxing, or occasional small neat tear to margin, else unmarked. Illustrated in a frontispiece and over 200 vignettes, plates, and tailpieces designed by Frank T. Merrill and drawn, engraved, and printed under the supervision of George T.
