Peking: Poplar Island Press, 1938. 3 volumes, approx. 6" x 4", title pages printed in red and black; original red cloth, stab-sewn, and contained in a matching red cloth folding case with bone clasps; spine of box sunned; all else very good and sound. Wikipedia tells us that Vincenz Maria Hermann Hundhausen (1878-1955) was a German national, who was also a German-language professor at Peking University and a translator of Chinese works into German. Hundhausen owned the Poplar Island Press, based out of his Beijing house. He lived and worked in Cbhina for over 30 years.
