Originally published in 1952 "Sailing to Freedom" tells the tale of sixteen people crossing the Atlantic ocean in a 37 foot sailboat to escape mass deportations of ethnic Estonians to Siberia after the annexation of their country post WWII. This edition of the book was published as part of the 100th anniversary of Estonian independence in 2018 and includes a preface by the president of Estonia, Kersti Kaljulaid.
It includes a large number of colorized photographs of the maritime journey that it describes, a map of the route it took, archival materials, information about the authors, and a glossary of marine terminology. (Inventory #: 942)
