London: Hamish Hamilton, 1961. First Edition. Octavo. 109 pp. illustrated by Edward Gorey. In an effort to confront mankind with the idiocy of its course toward self-destruction, the author has taken the songs of our former innocence and readjusted each one to show how far we have departed from the spirit of the original. The result would be terrifying if it were not so funny and funny if it were not so terrifying. Bound in yellow pictorial cloth depicting an exploding bomb outlined in green, spine lettering green. A near fine copy in unclipped pictorial dust jacket accented in gray, yellow and white, some rub through to corners and spine ends.
