Inscribed by the author's son, James Dwight, on the front pastedown. Epic poem that contains ideas and concepts familiar to an LDS audience: The Americas given to an ancient Israelite; "celestial fruits"; the throne of God; Cosmology of divinely inspired worlds and beings; ongoing creation; America reserved by God; etc. Timothy Dwight (1752-1817) was an American educator (including the longtime president of Yale), theologian, and poet who had a strong instructive influence during his time. He was a second cousin to Elizabeth Dwight Lathrop, wife of the noted theologian, Joseph Lathrop, who was a distant cousin of Joseph Smith. Mormon Parallels 126.
