by Hemingway, Ernest
New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1964. First edition. Fine/Very Good +. A Fine copy of the book, sharp and unmarked. Original Very Good+ dust jacket with a small chip at the base of the spine and at the lower, rear corner.
Hemingway’s 1964 memoir, published a few years after his death in 1961. A Moveable Feast was based on his personal papers and edited by his wife. The title of the book was actually taken from a (remembered) Hemingway quote, delivered to one of his good friends: “If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast." The book follows Hemingway’s years in 1920s Paris as a writer along with his numerous encounters with many famous members of the Lost Generation, from F. Scott Fitzgerald to John Dos Passos. “Though this may seem at first blush a fragmentary book, it is not so. It should be read as a novel, belongs among the author’s better works and is, as ‘mere writing,’ vintage Hemingway” (contemporary New York Times Review). Fine in Very Good + dust jacket. (Inventory #: 6727)
