1956 Yankees Official Program and Score Card (vs. Detroit Tigers)

New York: Harry M. Stevens Inc., 1956 First edition. Signed on front wrapper by Bob Turley, Hank Bauer, and Bill Skowron. Publisher's cream pictorial wrappers, printed in red and blue. Near fine, with light soiling to wrappers, a couple of small closed tears to bottom edge of rear wrapper, and scorecard neatly filled out in pencil. Overall, a great copy. On August 26, 1956, the New York Yankees faced the Detroit Tigers at Yankee Stadium. The Yankees ran away with the game, with a final score of 7-0. The Yankees, with their dynastic cast of players like Yogi (truncated) Berra, Mickey Mantle, and Enos Slaughter, went on to win the World Series title that year in seven games against the Brooklyn Dodgers. Bob Turley won two World Series with the team in 1956 and 1958, additionally winning the Cy Young Award and World Series MVP in the latter year. After retiring from the MLB, Turley became a successful businessman, co-founding the financial services company that would become Primerica, and investing in Florida real estate. Hank Bauer was a 3x All-Star who won seven World Series titles with the Yankees, and, as a manager, led the Orioles to their first ever World Series title in 1966.
