London: (McLoughlin?), 1860. Very good. Toned with minor nicks to lace paper, light dust soiling.. A flirtatious 12mo valentine (possibly by McLoughlin?) made with lace paper bifolium (5.5" by 3.5") with a printed poem inside titled "A Lover's Plea": "Thy love is the one thing To fold my heart in bliss; Plight it with a ring, seal it with a kiss..." On the upper leaf is a chromolithographed portrait of a young lady in blue dress, framed by a gilt lace paper border and secured to the valentine with embossed Victorian scrap. Includes folded paper tabs to raise the gilt lace paper frame above the valentine. Bifolium (5.5" by 3.75"). Appears to be American made.
