1860 · London
London, 1860. Very good to near-fine.. A handsome 16mo valentine made from gilt lace paper, with contemporary ink verse inside: "When you are standing at your work, Think of me before you stroke; And when on this your eyes you cast, Think of when you saw me last". On the opposite leaf inside the central oval reads, "Love one and other Good by [sic] Love". There is also an embossed and gilt lace paper scrap affixed to the upper leaf with a folded tab, allowing it to float above the valentine and give the object depth. Bifolium (3" by 2.75").
