Gettysburg, PA, 1828. Very Good. Gettysburg: 1828. Manuscript petition (17x20.5cm.) signed by Rachel Arnold and addressed "the the Honorable the Judges of the Court of Quarter Sessions" in Adams County, Pennsylvania, April 28th, 1828. Previous folds, some toning and wrinkling, else Very Good.
Arnold cites the well-known tavern situated in Middletown "in the road leading from Carlisle to Gettysburg, about half way, between the said towns" and that "she is desirous to keep a house of public entertainment for the convenience and comfort of the travelers and others and that she is well provided with every thing necessary thereto." Written on the recto in a different hand "Granted by the Courts / This License made out and delivered to the Treasurer. (Inventory #: 30941)
