Nina Simone archive of 3 vintage items. All from the 1960s. Measurements range from 9" x 5 1/2" - 11" x 8 1/2". Archive consists of: [1] 1969 program for the Filmore East in New York City showcasing Nina Simone alongside Richie Havens and Isaac Hayes for an upcoming concert with staple-bound illustrated wrappers, includes an image of Simone on stage, 9" x 5 1/2" and 22-page; [2] a 1967 songbook for Simone's version of "Do What You Gotta Do" with an image of Simone deep in thought on the cover, 11" x 8 1/2" and 4-page; [3] an original vintage silver gelatin press photograph on Nina Simone and her daughter, Lisa, at a television studio in London for the production of a program titled "Sound of Soul", very small tear to left margin of photograph but no damage to image itself, 8 1/2" x 6 1/2". Nina Simone's rugged and eclectic sound, which fused then-contemporary jazz sounds with classical piano and folk songs, captivated American and international audiences with passionate songs often about racial tensions in the US. Her material is scarce. Archive in overall very good condition.
