by Carole Lombard (subject); Alfred Eisenstaedt (photographer)
N.p.: N.p., 1938. Vintage borderless press photograph of actress Carole Lombard in a fur coat and high-waisted pedal-pushers, riding an electric scooter on the Selznick Studio Lot in 1938—likely during the filming of Lombard's 1939 film "Made for Each Other." PIX agency stamp crediting photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt on the verso.
German-born photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt was one of the original staff photographers of "Life" magazine after it was purchased by "Time" founder Henry Luce in 1936. He published nearly 2500 photo stories for the magazine, with 90 of his images used for the magazine's covers, but is perhaps best remembered today for the iconic "V-J Day in Times Square" photograph.
From the archive of the PIX Agency, an American photo house that acted as an intermediary between emigre photographers (as well as those still living in Europe) and the American magazine and newspaper market between 1935-1969.
8 x 10 inches, archivally matted in a 14 x 17 inch 8-ply white mat. Very Good plus. (Inventory #: 163103)
