Dustjacket. 238pp. Bright and sharp with very light wear to spine ends and extremities, in a clean pictorial dustjacket with some minor marginal wear and some shallow chipping to the spine ends, scuffing to bright orange rear panel. A very good, solid copy. Internally clean, with the bookplate and Chinese "chop" stamp of Francis Christopher Brown, whom records show served in Vietnam during the war, and whose correspondence with his father during the hostilities is held in a US institutional collection.
A piece of well produced Soviet propaganda, printed in both English and Russian, intending to show the civilized and progressive nature of the North Vietnamese regime, and the folly of the US and its allies continuing hostilities in the region. Ivan Shchedrov travelled extensively through the North, collecting photos and anecdotes, and providing a channel for the dissemination of pro Ho Chi Minh agitprop within the US. (Inventory #: 82165)
