1955 Uniform Player's Contract Between Pee Wee Reese and the Brooklyn Dodgers

1955 Signed by Pee Wee Reese and countersigned by Dodgers GM Emil "Buzzie" Bavasi. Original four-page "Uniform Player's Contract," printed in black with red heading on p. 1. With Beckett and PSA LOAs. Three horizontal fold-lines, else fine document. Overall, an important piece of Dodgers history. This contract states that the "National League Baseball Club of Brooklyn" will pay Reese $15,000 for the 1955 season. The contract was likely a supplement to his seasonal contract with the team. In 1955, Reese helped lead the Dodgers to a World Series title, defeating the Yankees in seven games. Pee Wee Reese was the "heart and soul" of the Dodgers, playing (truncated) shortstop for the team from 1940 to 1958 (Hall of Fame Website). In his exceptional career, he was selected for ten All-Star games and won two World Series titles (1955, 1959). He was one of the first players to publicly support Jackie Robinson when he broke the color line in 1947, and his support went a long way in mitigating the negativity that Robinson faced.
