D. Jacomet's Artistic Press, 1927. Portfolio. Near Fine. Leon Bakst. (13) hand-colored Leon Bakst (1866-1924) “photo-types”, executed in 1927 at D. Jacomet’s Artistic Press. These are offset lithographs, 9 are signed/dated in the plate, all with watercolor/pochoir, heightened with gold and/or silver. Bakst, born a Russian Jew in 1866, was a painter who worked in the theater as a stage and costume designer. He was a member of the Diaghilev circle and created scenery and costumes for Ballet Russes productions, overseeing design as their first artistic director during their heyday (1909-1914). His vibrant designs were a great influence on early 20th century (truncated)
