Boston: Roberts Brothers, 1883. First Edition. 370pp. Duodecimo [18 cm] Brown cloth with 3/4 stamped black decorations. Title gilt on backstrip. Gentle wear to boards. Internally clean. Narrative of the author's travels across America starting in New York and heading west. The majority of this work recounts the author's time in Utah and Mormon Country, with colorful descriptions of the people and places. Unlike many chroniclers of the exotic culture that was thriving in the Great Basin, the majority of visitors came to Salt Lake City and the immediate surrounding area. Robinson toured through the rural southern outpost of Utah, with nice descriptions of Manti, Glenwood, Monroe, Marysville, Kingston, and Orderville. An entire chapter is dedicated to the author's time with Jacob Hamblin. Flake/Draper 7392. Paher 1684. (Inventory #: 9735)
