1977 · New York
by Plath, Sylvia
New York: Caedmon, 1977. Caedmon spoken word album of American poet Sylvia Plath reading from her own work. The austere cover depicts a rugged seascape, with stark cliffs and no swimmers in sight: "This is the sea, then, this great abeyance." Plath recorded the fourteen poems on the first side of the LP at Harvard's Woodberry Poetry Room in 1958 and 1959; the nine poems on the second side for the BBC between 1960 and 1962. "Some of the poems have been included in her books, some appeared only in periodicals, and a few are unpublished but will be in the forthcoming Collected Poems." Caedmon TC 1544. A very good copy of an uncommon album. Single LP housed in archival sleeve and black-and-white photographic album cover, measuring 12.375 x 12.375 inches. Lightest shelfwear, corners bumped.
