Charrington was an important collector of private press books and prints; he was honorary Keeper of Prints at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge. A visionary realization of all the book arts (writing included), this fantasy romance was one of the inspirations for Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy. A truly beautiful book.
