first edition Wraps
1939 · Chicago (location of Teich)
Chicago (location of Teich): Curt Teich & Co. The Merchants' Association of New York City, 1939. First Edition. Wraps. Fine. Exciting color printed illustrations, front and rear cover, that capture an essence of the dynamic, and in 1939, Futuristic, city and its Art Deco swagger. 4to. 24 by 16.5 cm. Unpaginated, 64 pages, each page with one to four photographs, many of which have been processed in a way to provide a simulcrum of a painting. Plus the wrap covers, which inside, front and back, contain textual content. This pamphlet was issued in conjunction with the 1939 World's Fair. It was an excellent overview of the city's major sights and views, with particular attention to the new, the modern, the things that project the personality of the city. There is a light, subtle film of dirt on the cover which is completely erasable. One could make a cavil about other trivial imperfections, but overall, we find this a copy one is very unlikely to find a better one condition-wise, and thus we are comfortable designating it a Fine copy.
