1889 Durham North Carolina Centennial Celebration photograph with 3 named people

[Durham, North Carolina]: Unknown, 1889. Photograph. Good. Photograph card. 8" x 5". Light edge wear to the card. 21 people pictured on a horse drawn wagon decorated with flags and banners. Three small blue arrows point to the heads of three people on the image. On the back side of the photograph card is some writing in blue pen and pencil. In blue pen the three people with arrows pointing their heads are Rose Senall (or Semall); James Hassall; and Frank Hassall "in Costume." Other writing on the back side includes "Durham Centennial 1889"; "74 N. Car."; "The Durhams 3 vols North Carolina"; and "The Durhams News? Magazines?"

Durham, North (truncated) Carolina was incorporated as a town in 1867. Unsure what this particular Centennial celebration may have been for. Frank Hassall identified in the photograph is dressed in what appears to be an eighteenth century outfit. (Inventory #: 32458)
