Published the year after the trip concluded, the book recounts their journey starting in Jackson, Michigan on May 2, 1904, covering some 13,000 miles through numerous cities, lasting roughly 18 months, and the funds for which raised by the sale of an aluminum ashtray which they sold along the way.
