Long Beach, California, 1978. Scarce first issue of this Los Angeles fanzine, with pieces on The Furys, the Stranglers, Generation X, Devo, Mink DeVille, Sex Pistols, and the Mumps. Covering punk, new wave, and rock acts, both local and national, it also includes album reviews, a list of fan clubs, and local advertisements. The L.A. Beat was published by Stephen Zepeda, who also founded Beat Records and worked as a concert promoter in Long Beach. Digest size (7" x 10"): 34 p. with black-and-white illustrations.
