1991 City Gardens Music Calendar Flyer, Featuring Nirvana; with Music Calendar Postcard

September 1991. 8.5" x 11" (postcard: 3.5" x 5.5"). Original white paper flyer with music calendar (September - October) for City Gardens in Trenton, New Jersey, with Nirvana slated to play on Sept. 27, a benefit show featuring The Ween All-Star Band advertised on reverse, printed in black. With postcard featuring the same graphic as the flyer in miniature on one side, reverse side addressed "Last Punkcard for: Rich Russell." Very good flyer, with horizontal and vertical fold-lines, and some rubbing to print. Very good postcard, with the addressee's name label (truncated) present but detached from the postcard, and a spot of soiling to bottom right of music calendar. Overall, unique promotional material for Nirvana just as they were exploding into the mainstream. On Sept. 27, 1991, Nirvana played at City Gardens in Trenton, NJ, alongside bands Das Damen and Planet Dread. Two weeks before the show, on Sept. 10, 1991, the band's single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was released, changing the course of music history forever. An interesting sidenote is that the week after Nirvana played at City Gardens, The Ramones and Ween played a double bill at the venue.
