1933 · Paris
by Jean Vigo (director, screenwriter); Jean Daste, Robert le Flon, Du Verron (starring)
Paris: Franfilmdis, 1933. Vintage oversize double weight studio still photograph for the landmark 1933 silent film. Provenance stamp on the verso.
Although he only made four films before his death from tuberculosis at the age of 29, Jean Vigo would come to have an outsized influence on cinema, particularly the French New Wave, with François Truffaut in particular paying homage to Vigo's anarchic boarding school students in "Zero for Conduct" during the classroom and recess scenes in his 1959 film "The 400 Blows."
11.75 x 9.75 inches with wide bottom margins. Very Good plus, lightly creased at the edges.
Criterion Collection (truncated)
