The Night Before Christmas A Spoken Song

Boston: Boston Music Co., n.d. [1923]. Near fine in heavy, printed paper wraps over a stapled binding. A quarto measuring 11 7/8 by 8 7/8 inches with a gift inscription written across the upper edge of the front cover and with a faint and very slight abrasion to the upper fore corners of the pages. Without a dust jacket and probably as issued. 14 pages of music. The first page in this copy contains the poem "The Night Before Christmas" with credit given to the author, Clement C. Moore. The balance of the publication is the musical score written to the words. The color illustration on the front and rear of the covers and the six line art drawings (truncated) within are by G. G. Drayton. As pointed out in Nancy H. Marshall's bibliography: The Night Before Christmas, G[race] G. Drayton was "famous for her illustrations of the Campbell Soup Kids. Quite scarce.
