Lesbian 1958 Iconic Movie Mädchen In Uniform "Girls in Uniform" was one of the earliest narrative films to explicitly portray Lesbians and homosexuality. Mädchen in Uniform (Girls in Uniform) is a 1958 French-West German drama film directed by Géza von Radványi and based on the play by Christa Winsloe. It was entered into the 8th Berlin International Film Festival. It is a remake of the 1931 cult classic film, and was later entered into the 8th Berlin International Film Festival. The film follows a requited lesbian love story (truncated) between a student and teacher. Eight photographs feature various portraits of Schneider, and one photograph is a portrait of co-star Lilli Palmer in a glamourous jeweled black dress. One Romanian photograph captioned "Fete in Uniforma" captures Schneider in a masculine suit and bowtie. In another photograph, Schneider is seen alongside several classmates in the film peering from a balcony. A large photograph captures several students dressed in uniform lined up as Schneider stands in the center. In three photographs, Schneider is captured in the iconic school uniform, reminiscent of the original film. Made in 1958, the remake of Mädchen in Uniform was not released in the U.S. until the late 60's, potentially because the Hays Production Code was still in act. This archive is in very good condition.
