New York: McLoughlin Brothers, 1910. Very good.. Colorful McLoughlin book on African animals, with vignettes told from the points of view of animals and the people that hunt them. Though some of the stories are still rather macabre, there is a sense that they could be more so; this picture book, in which most of the animals survive their encounters with hunters, anticipates the more gentle tone of later 20th century picture books. 12.75'' x 9.25''. Original cloth-backed color pictorial boards. Illustrated with six chromolithographs and in brown line. [16] pages. Binding with some edgewear, a bit of rubbing; lower corners lightly chipped. Leaves with (truncated)
