Nine large 8vo. volumes; in quarter calf, over marbled boards, with marbled endpapers and marbled edges; Volume I with 4 folded facsimiles; each volume with several leaves having minor discoloration from older silk ribbon markers; there are no ownership marks in any of the nine volumes nor is there any spotting or foxing; there is flaking to some of the calf, and some of the labels are chipped; still a serviceable and sturdy set.~~This is the first major edition of the writings of Thomas Jefferson; it should be noted that it included the Jefferson papers held by the Library of Congress (and of those only the papers considered "public" by the staff.~.
