Original maroon quarter cloth; printed dust jacket designed by Amy Isbey Duevell, unclipped with $6.95 price preserved. First American edition of Plath's only novel, a semi-autobiographical roman à clef. It was originally published in 1963 under the pseudonym Victoria Lucas. It was published under her own name in the UK in 1967 – she tragically died by suicide one month after publication. The US edition was not published until 1971, in accordance with the wishes of her husband Ted Hughes and her parents.
