Based on the 1893 play by Victorien Sardou and Émile Moreau. A laundry woman in France follows her husband to the battlefield, inadvertently helping Napoleon win a battle. They are both given the title of Duke and Duchess, though she does not understand and/or comply with the social manners of courtly life.
Set in France, shot on location in Tuscany, Italy and Madrid, Spain.
