Greenfield, Mass: A. Phelps, 1834. Hardcover. Good. First Greenfield edition, originally published in 1821. Quarter calf and printed paper over boards. Front fly appears to be lacking, spine back largely eroded, a good only copy. Anti-slavery story intended for a juvenile audience by Mary Martha Sherwood, the wife of a British naval officer who had visited Africa. The plot concerns Dazee, a young boy captured into slavery from Sierra Leone, but re-captured by the navy, and returned to his native land. it had printings in several locations in the American northeast, but is uncommon on the market.
