[LGBTQ] Dorothy Arzner was an American lesbian film director whose career in feature films spanned from the silent era of the late 1920's into the early 1940's. At Paramount, Arzner directed Clara Bow's first talkie, The Wild Party (1929). The Wild Party was the film to skyrocket lesbian director Dorothy Arzner's career. The Wild Party's focus on women in exclusively female environments was a gold mine for Pre-Code era homosexual subtext since Dorothy Arzner was open about her lesbian sexuality (she was even believed to have relationships with numerous notable actors of the time, such as Alla Nazimova and Billie Burke).
