George O Swann, son of Judge Swan of Columbus Ohio, was on his way to join the law school at Cambridge, Mass. (Harvard) when he went down aboard the steamship Lexington, one of Cornelius Vanderbilt's most luxurious steamers in Long Island Sound on its way to Boston. Only 4 of 143 passengers survived. L.M.
