Moderate soiling on the wrappers, small tears at the spine ends, and a faint vertical crease, a nice and sound very good copy. A collection of 24 religious poems by Garvey, all dated in 1927, with ads for other Garvey publications in 1927, and one for the 1927 song "Keep Cool." Alternately lauded as the "Colored Moses" or derided as the "Black Barnum," Garvey was convicted for selling stock in his defunct Black Star Line and sentenced to five years in the Atlanta Penitentiary, where he served two and a half years of prison (truncated)
