Basis for the 1957 Oscar-nominated film starring Elizabeth Taylo, Eva Marie Saint and Montgomery Clift. 1066 pp. Lockridge's masterpiece, his only book published before his unfortunate death by suicide, acquired in his hometown of Bloomington, Indiana..
