British illustrator and animator Errol Le Cain imbued his art with whimsy, style, and "a certain strangeness" that gives it a unique atmosphere (Hunt). He incorporated various aesthetics into his work depending on the subject of the book he was illustrating, and was particularly well-known for his illuminated manuscript-like compositions.
