Einstein presents a continuation of his earlier work on the interaction between light matter and on photochemical (truncated) processes. It contrasts with earlier work in that it makes no use of the quantum hypothesis. He demonstrates how what he calls 'the law of photochemical equivalence' is deducible by purely thermodynamical arguments if one makes certain plausible assumptions.
