19th century Hand colored Japanese woodblock print on thick tea paper. Measures about 11.5" x 9". and depicts two Japanese samurais. A Japanese woman wearing a colorful kimono in the foreground, and a samurai fighting with a bamboo stick and his katana still sheathed in the background. Kendo is a martial art that typically uses bamboo swords. Kendo, "the way of the sword", is a traditional sport in Japan, essentially similar to fencing, kendo has its influences in sword practices of the samurai. The woodblock includes secondary tea paper print of the same size with over 10 columns of Kanji writing. The woodblock image has impeccable details and colors. (truncated)
