first edition
1910 · London
by Carroll, Lewis; Bowley, A. L.
London: Raphael Tuck & Sons, Ltd, 1910. Very good plus.. First edition of this charming panorama of Alice's Wonderland adventures, with character cutouts to tuck into slots and rearrange the story however you like — rarely found complete. A. L. Bowley worked on a number of titles for Raphael Tuck, including this dynamic take on Lewis Carroll's beloved story. The instructions to the rear encourage readers to switch up the placement of the figures — which include the White Rabbit, the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, the Queen of Hearts, and Alice herself — in order to make their own version of the story. Its many moveable parts means that this panorama is unusual to find complete and intact, as this copy is. A beautiful Alice. 10.5'' x 47.5'' (unfolded); 10.5'' x 12'' (folded). Original color pictorial self wrapper. Illustrated in color on one side, black and white on the other. 15 color figures, complete. Four panels, folded concertina-style, with pocket to rear. Some edgewear and light soil to outside, a few closed tears and careful repairs. Several interior slots with closed tears, but sound. Colors bright.
